A person who spiked sweets with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight children and an older person experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on recently.
Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention ahead of a further hearing on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.
She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including infant oil, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She said Ruben went on to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that stage," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior explained the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson called the authorities once more.
She explained the defendant then played the "treat game" in a room of five children.
